Show News
We are excited to announce the first ever RHANW Derby! Thanks to the generous donation from Mary Kaplan and Calvin Thomas, the June show in Moses Lake will feature the Dun Its Lucky Charm Derby. This show will feature an NRHA approved Open Derby on Saturday with $1,250 added money, followed by an NRHA approved Non Pro Derby on Sunday with $750 added. There also is a rumor of a Doggie Derby event at the June show do start getting your dogs legged up.
Another hot new feature of our show season this year will be the Lil Boot Reiners Class for youth riders 11 years old and younger. I’m sure this will be a very fun class with lots of coaching from the sidelines. There is no requirement for youth riders or their families to own the horse that they are showing in this class.
The feature event of our September show will be the Professor Smart Futurity, which will be a similar format to the Dun It Lucky Charm Derby with the $1,250 added Open Futurity on Saturday night and the $750 added Non Pro Futurity on Sunday. Both divisions will be NRHA approved.
Great news for the Northwest!! The NRHA Northwest Affiliate Finals will be in conjunction with the WRHA show at Appleatchee in October. What an improvement over hauling to California! Because the Affiliate Finals are later in the year, all four of our shows will count as qualifying shows.
We have finalized our show dates and locations, which will be as follows:
May 9-11 Show #1 - Slide In, Grant County Fairgrounds, Moses Lake, WA
June 6-8 Show #2 - Summerslide & Dun Its Lucky Charm Derby, Grant County Fairgrounds, Moses Lake, WA
July 11-13 Show #3 - Washington Trust Slide, Spur of the Moment, Deer Park, WA
Sept 12-14 Show #4 - Spin Out and Professor Smart Futurity, Appleatchee Riders Arena, Wenatchee, WA
The total amount of added money for our shows this year will be $15,000. Three of our four shows will be at public facilities which offer plenty of stalls, access to motels and restaurants , warm up pens, etc. We are excited about returning to Moses Lake with our first two shows. I traveled down there a few weeks ago to check out the grounds. There are two beautiful new barns with 120 12’x12’ stalls. They are bringing Bob Kiser out to consult with them on improving the ground and are committed to doing whatever it takes to provide good ground for our shows.
We will be offering paid warm-up time beginning at 4:00 at the first three shows and beginning at 1:00 at the 4th show. Class lists and entry forms are being finalized and will be posted on the website and mailed out in the next newsletter. There will be plenty of stalls available at the Moses Lake and Wenatchee locations, but stalls are limited at Spur of the Moment. I would suggest that you send your stall reservations well in advance for the July show. Stalls at all shows will be $25/night and will be reserved on a “first paid” basis. Debbie Fortner will be our Show Secretary for all four of our shows. |
